July edition (7-2002)
Introduction:
July was the month of the birth of our nation. What a better way for our CEO to celebrate than to plunder our companies and to then feel the backlash of the American people. So is our government going to anything?
Current events: I saw Korn this month. It was really cool. Their new music is awesome. Also I somehow made it to Warped. Sorry Eli, I was going to ask if you wanted to go but I only remembered that on Friday and warped was Saturday. It was really cool this year because I met a couple of the members of the bands and got some signed cds. The bands I saw for at least one song at Warped were Hot Water Music, Flogging Molly, Vex Red, Rx Bandits, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Tiger Army, Mxpx, Sugarcult, NoFx, Bad Religion, Death by Stereo, Anti-Flag, Reel Big Fish, etc. I met the members of a lot of bands, some big name bands and some small name bands. All of you hard rock fans need to check out the band Vex Red. They are a band from England that had to be on the Warped tour because Ozzfest was filled up. They have just released a cd and their music, while not innovative, is really good, and very solid. Only like 12 people were watching them perform cause, well, Warped is mainly a punk, ska, and power-pop venue.
National News:
A young boy in Morocco had his penis bit off by a donkey. Fortunately, the Professor Mouaad Mounir was able to sew back on the penis in 45 minutes. The big question is how did the donkey get a hold of the penis to bite it off? What exactly was the boy doing? Poor Donkey. I think that boy got what he deserved. You who are members of frats remember this, do not get your groin area too close to donkeys or goats, or goat like animals ‘s mouths.
Monks in Jerusalem are fighting over the rooftop of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the traditional site of the crucifixion of Jesus. Apparently, the Egyptian Coptic sect is fighting the Ethiopian monks over a chair on the roof that the Ethiopian monks vacated in an epidemic in the 19th century so the Egyptian Coptic monks took it over, but in the hectic hippy days of the 1970s the Ethiopian monks retook the seat. Now the Egyptian monks want the chair back, with a vengeance. Fighting has broken out this week with stones and chairs thrown. Seven Ethiopian monks were injured and 4 Egyptian monks were injured. Who will win this “WAR of the SEAT” part III? I may never know or really care.
Technology news:
I have been playing Civilization 3 so I have been wasting a lot of time. Also I am boycotting a website but I forgot the name of the site so it really does not matter.
Auto week:
I have bought a new-used car. Read the June issue. I need new speakers for my car but since I am heading off to college it will have to wait.
Living Conditions:
Purdue sent me my housing info. I am living in Wiley SE202. Yeah. However they never sent me anything to send back for confirmation. So now they are saying that I they may terminate my housing again. I still may need a place to live.
Work:
I can count down the days I have left on my hands. I can hardly wait to leave.
Social Life:
Tim is really bored. Have hardly heard from any of my friends up here. Since Tim is going to have a car on campus this year I can visit all of you at other universities. Just send me some dates to visit. Also, all of you at Purdue let me know when any good parties are going to happen or any good concerts. I will go to just about any type of concert and see any band as long as it is not country. Also invite me to parties this fall. I am bored out of my mind.
Music:
I have changed to list to be my top 6 because everyone else has a top 5 or a top 10. I have a top 6.

2 In the Orchard “II: Power of Moonlight” Tiger Army

Well, the new Korn cd just did not make the cut off. It is really good but it just did not quite make it. The New Found Glory cd did not make it because their new cd was not great but not bad, just average. The new Papa Roach cd was not quite as good as their first cd. The Vex Red cd will most likely be appearing on next month’s list because I just bought it this weekend.
Messages to people: I have no clue if I have any messages to people. So if you want to talk to me my AIM name is: agaldor. Hey, I have not heard from any of you since hell froze over (and damn that was a long time ago). I have no clue if any of you are even returning to purdue. So at least send me a quick email sometime and send me you aim name cause I only have the aim name of like 3 of you.
Passage From a book (to increase your culture):
“All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profane, and man is at last compelled to face with somber senses, his real conditions of life, and his relations with his kind.”
From “The Communist Manifesto” by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels
Editorials:
“It always amazes me how many engineers and engineering students believe that communism or socialism is the best economic system and how many factory workers believe capitalism is the best economic system. Something about that disturbs me.”
